Halflings, Hobbits, and Hins, oh my! or.. So what's a nice hobbit like you doing in a 2 bit gin joint like this?

Hobbit, Halfling, Hin.. *sorry to the respective licensed properties holders*

These are a few names of my most favorite things. Those plucky little humanoids J.R.R. created, and D&D kinda, sorta, stole. Halflings.

I am a true fan of this race, as my brother is a die hard Warforged fan(Tho I can not see that. Must be a Gearhead thing???)

My first true run in with the little fellers, was a copy of the Hobbit I found, and the LoTR Trilogy in my closet when I was 7 or so. I loved the picture of Smaug on the cover, and read that book in and out, well as best as a 7 year old could. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins *yes, sing the DAMN song* and hIs Cousin Frodo (that I could wrap my head around at that time)But hey, they were small like I was, probably the same shape (tho I was a rake when I was tiny). And full of food.. Mmm, has second breakfast been served yet??

Then came D&D, yes that most dreaded of things, a game of the Imagination. Well, my head was in Shire. So here came Bolo Baggins, yet another cousin of the most famous Hobbits of them all. :)
He was thief, ranger, fighter all in one.. Had every weapon hew could and couldn't have. Frak the encumbrance rules. 7ooo lbs is a light load right?

Sadly, later on, I did stray from them for a while with Waer Earnbran , my Half Elf ranger. He got to be a god. But my heart was with the little squirt, he felt large and clunky.

Then I had a run in Bolo again, in '94-96. This time a Proudfoot, not FEET! and his amazing riding Mountain goat, Zepe. Which was halfling for "Elf Scourge", or that was how our local elf figured it meant. Sadly he was short lived.

Then came, my crowning achivement.. Derris Thornhill, (third edition D&D) a rogue like none before, a hard living, child pretending rogue, who had the hots for a human Bard called "Melianthe", and gave her the adventure of a life time. LOL *wink wink*
and even tho dying the most "humourous, yet painful death", rezzing as a dwarf, then switching back in one of the layers of hell.
And I just recently rezz'ed Derris, in DDO ( Khyber Server, yo!) as Dyrris ( I can not believe someone took that name!!)
Anyhoo, try them out, they are hella fun.

Gotta run, and do the DDO thang.

Remember the Shire,
Chad

P.S. BTW, when The first LoTR movie came out, I felt my eye mist, when I first saw the Shire. was like coming home. LOL.

New Item for D&D.

Hi friends, Ralph Spoilsport here at "Crazy Al's Pan Dimensional Chop 'n' Save". We have a great item on sale here.

The Stones of El'srun

These stones are in a set of 6, each stone represents each Stat for characters; Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom , and Charisma. They give each stat a +2. The Stones stays within 3-4" of the characters head, tho not spinning like an Ioun stone does, this stays straight ahead of the player.
The stones can only be used one at a time, or else they will cancel each other out, severing the power.

The stones look like 2" amber stones, with a symbol of each stat imbued inside the stone.

Cost: 2000 gp. Rarity: extreme.

Aerathis' Timeline

  • -3.5 Billion years bCA (before Current Age)- Aerathis is created .
  • -1.5 Billion years bCA – Pelorus has a severe sunspot eruption (the radiation sterilizes the first three planets of the solar system, making it unlikely to create life), It does hit Aerathis, but only to "scars" the planet.
  • -.5 billion years bCA – Life begins on Aerathis, simple life forms.
  • -50 million years bCA – An Asteroid crashes into the planet, killing off 78% of the prehistoric life on the planet. The Asteroid strike creates a new rare element "Aerathium" ( A Element which can slightly create a anti gravity effect, used in the CA's Airships.)
  • -55,000 years bCA - Ice Age begins.
  • -15,000 years bCA – Ice Age ends.
  • -12,500 years bCA – A Colony Ship crashes in the northern region of the continent (due to a special anomaly), an alien life has arrived, (Humans) though sleeping.
  • -11,500 years bCA – Rifts appear, and new primitive life forms appear (Dragons, Elvin, and Eladrin), Drow are driven to the depths of The Underdark, meeting new creatures and races.
  • -5000 years bCA – Dwarves and Fey appear, same with the Goblinoid races.
  • -3000 years bCA – Humans awaken from their long sleep, the ship is in no condition to be salvaged, other than basic metals, and like. Quickly setting up trade with Dwarves.
  • -2500 years bCA - Dwarves utilize the dead tech to the rifts making world gates. The Humans use it to colonize the other parts of the world; Halflings are encountered and quickly befriend the humans.
  • -1000 years bCA – The humans are growing and adapting.
  • -500 years bCA – A huge war begins between the Orcs and Humans, the Orcs are in greater number and Humans are almost brought to extinction. The Gods of good come to their aid. And establish humans as a chosen race. ½ Orcs appear.
  • -450 years bCA the war ends and a golden era begin.
  • 0 CA (Current Age) – Humans are the dominant race, becoming talented in the ways of agriculture, and sciences.
  • 50 CA – the world portals become unstable, and the knowledge of stabilizing the tech is lost.
  • 75- 1000 CA – Wars come and go, the usual historic kind of things happens.
  • 1050 CA - Airships are created, and control the skies. Very expensive travel.
  • 1075 CA – The World gates are stabilized and now plane travel is available.
  • 1100 CA – Present time.

Yeah Yeah I know.

It has been For-evah since I posted here, but no one wants to read me. Anyhoo, I am still working on my world for 4ed.
On the gaming front, still plugging at 4ed. I know, it isn't what I want, but I am gonna break this bitch, and make it the game it should be not the WOW wannabe.
Been looking into adding a perks and quirks (gives the character abit more role playability), also I did drop the 5d6 rolling for attributes. That was a mistake, characters are too powerful.
Well that is it for now. Gonna try to get this out at least every Friday. So til next week, Keep yer mitts off others dice.

Welcome to the future.. And the future is now.

Hi gang, welcome to my latest version of my blog. My gaming one died horribly, and my other one was abducted by gypsies.
Anyway this is gonna be a fusion of sorts, gaming, my personal life and my art until I get my art blog up and running.
Well, Christmas in the new old place??? was cool, got alot of gaming gear, D&D and GURPS, and a huge vinyl quad/hex playmat for minis ( big shout out to Lee and Wanda for that), a new video card ( I do hat ATI, I can not play WoW with it, oh well. Again to all one who gave us our kick ass stuff youse the bomb. Thank you, I hope next I can give more. I do not care for gifts so much, but I like giving.
Branwen is over 4' now, though we found some snow drifts taller than her. Heh.
In local news, I gotta say, this Turf war from Sprytown is retarded, this drug pushers are walking the streets shooting at each other, and the cops are doing nothing. Put them away and throw the fucking key away. Fucking shitheads, also the Snow Removal crews here in Halitown are completely fucking useless, as I almost cracked my tailbone on a patch of ice. I wish i could sue.
Still looking for that job that I can do as a stay at home and keep an eye on the Hobbit. But hey, she could possibly be on the way to primary this year, if she is game.
Man, I am chewing at the bit, to get back into 4ed D&D. Not to step on my Monday gamer's,I enjoy playing, but I have some cool ideas for adventures in 4th. Tho I can wait, and work on the adventures.
Excuse the typing, I am trying to get my typing back on par, as 4 years of euro server playing with broken english players has sapped my typing abilities.
Anyways will try to keep this on the go better than the last few blog pages.
